What is ATOL? 

The ATOL scheme (which stands for Air Travel Organisers’ Licensing) is financial protection that protects you when you book a package trip that includes a flight, specifically to cover holiday-makers if their travel company stops trading while they’re abroad. This protection includes assisting you to stay in your holiday accommodation (if possible), reimbursing you for any money spent to replace ATOL-protected parts of your trip (such as car hire and transfers), and arranging flights home – depending on the circumstances.

What is ABTOT? 

When you book with an ABTOT Member, you are booking with a specialist holiday provider, approved for Membership by a government-approved Association. You can book in confidence and with peace of mind that your pre-payments are protected in the event of the travel providers insolvency and that repatriation costs are covered.

If you do receive an ATOL Certificate but all the parts of your trip are not listed on it, those parts will not be ATOL protected. The Association of Bonded Travel Organisers Trust Limited (ABTOT) provides financial protection under The Package Travel and Linked Travel Arrangements Regulations 2018 for utc.travel limited, member 5543, and in the event of their insolvency, protection is provided for: – Non-flight packages. ABTOT cover provides for a refund in the event you have not yet travelled or repatriation if transportation was included in your package. Please note that bookings made outside the UK are only protected by ABTOT when purchased directly with utc.travel limited.
